We are required to learn a foreign language for high school. Have you thought about tribal languages? They are still being used, though some are about to die out. PAWNEE has about 300 users last I checked. Here's the word APRIL in Cherokee TsaLaGi.

Also consider Pennsylvania Dutch aka Pennsylvania German. Amish families speak this language at home. This is their native language until they enter school.
Link to first lesson video. I am learning this language also because it's so similar to German aka High German (Amish Bibles) and Dutch. FYI Penn. Dutch was a misunderstanding. It's not Dutch, it is the German word for GERMAN = DEUTSCH>... sounds a bit like "dutch" though. There are two different spellings in Penn. Dutch because it's just now being developed into a written language. I like the professor in the link I have provided because he also teaches High German and was raised learning Penn. Dutch. Be aware of multiple or loose spellings in this language when you encounter it elsewhere.
